The AAP's website has information for professionals, as well as a parenting corner with information for parents on child and infant care. Parents can browse an alphabetical list of topics or search by age group.

 

HealthyChildren.org: Prenatal
This consumer health website from the American Academy of Pediatrics has information on pregnancy, such as prenatal care, complications, and delivery.

 

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
Patient Education Pamphlets are available full-text on the patient page. Spanish-language pamphlets and a "find an ob-gyn" function are also available.

This is the CDC's website on pregnancy for consumers. The site includes information on how to be healthy before, during, and after pregnancy.

 

Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed)
LactMed is a drug database, which includes data on maternal and infant levels of drugs, possible effects on breastfed infants and on lactation, and alternate drugs to consider.

 

International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA)
The ICEA has certification programs for childbirth educators, including postnatal educators, doulas, and perinatal fitness educators. There is also information for expectant parents, who can search for childbirth educators by type.

 

La Leche League International
La Leche League promotes breastfeeding. The website includes articles for consumers on breastfeeding, professional information, and information on local groups and affiliates.

 

Lamaze International
The goal of Lamaze classes is to increase women's confidence in their ability to give birth. The website has information for new and expectant parents, professionals, and a Lamaze educator search function.

 

March of Dimes
The March of Dimes website includes information on pregnancy, such as prenatal care, preventing birth defects and premature birth, labor and delivery, and caring for a baby.

 

MedlinePlus - Pregnancy
From the National Library of Medicine, this site for consumers includes information on pregnancy-related topics, and also includes links to other MedlinePlus pages on childbirth, high risk pregnancy, and prenatal care.

MyPyramid for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
This website is the pregnancy and breastfeeding version of the national MyPyramid food guide. The site includes nutrition advice and allows users to create a personal MyPyramid Plan for Moms.

 

National Marrow Donor Program - Donate Cord Blood
The National Marrow Donor Program has information about donating cord blood after a baby is born.

 

National Women's Health Information Center - Healthy Pregnancy
The pregnancy section of the NWHIC's website provides information on trying to get pregnant, prenatal care, and childbirth, and also includes a due date calculator and other tools.

 

National Women's Health Resource Center - Pregnancy & Parenting
This is a nonprofit national clearinghouse for women's health information. This section of the website features information on various aspects of pregnancy and links to other resources.

 

Parents Guide to Cord Blood Foundation
The primary mission of the Parent's Guide to Cord Blood is to educate parents with accurate and current information about cord blood medical research and cord blood storage options.

 

Postpartum Support International (PSI)
PSI provides support for women with pregnancy-related mood disorders. The website includes postpartum resources and information on the Postpartum Depression Helpline (1-800-994-4PPD).

 

Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM)
SMFM is the membership organization for physicians certified in maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancy). The site has some consumer information on high-risk pregnancies and a physician locator.

This is a free service from the National Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, designed to promote maternal and child health and give pregnant women the information they need to take care of their health and their babies. Women can sign up by texting BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411.

 

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - Food Safety for Moms-to-Be
This website from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration provides information for pregnant women on food safety and foodborne illnesses.

 

United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC)
The USBC protects, promotes, and supports breastfeeding. The website includes a list of state breastfeeding coalitions and links to breast feeding information and resources.

 

What You Need to Know About Mercury in Fish and Shellfish
This site includes advice from the FDA and EPA in several languages about mercury levels in fish and fish consumption during pregnancy.
