Dr. Robert J. Bowes, M.D.

Dr. Bowes attended undergraduate school at the University of Michigan. He graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI, receiving his Medical degree.

Dr. Bowes completed residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2006. His training included postdoctoral rotations at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center New York, NY, as well as the Alaska Native American Health Services Hospital, Anchorage, AK. Dr. Bowes joined Grand Rapids Women's Health in April 2010.

He is an assistant professor of OB/GYN in the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine , an Assistant Clerkship Coordinator for 3rd year medical students in Grand Rapids, a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the North American Menopause Society and the Norman F. Miller Gynecologic Society. Dr. Bowes has received honors and awards including Eagle Scout, BSA, the University of Michigan Nurse Midwifery Service Consultant Award and the AAGL award for Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures as a resident. He has completed training for daVinci Robotic Surgery-Intuitive Surgical and has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Bowes was drawn to specialize in OBGYN because he enjoys taking care of a patient's obstetric and gynecologic needs over the course of her life, from childbearing years through menopause and beyond. He appreciates the opportunity to develop long term relationships with his patients.

With the move to West Michigan, Dr. Bowes is looking forward to being near his family and friends. As well as raising his children in a stable supportive community with a rich culture and high quality of life.

When Dr. Bowes is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, reading, cycling,  woodworking, piano playing and gardening.
