Dr. Curtis Struyk, M.D.

*Dr. Struyk retired from GRWH in June 2009.

Here's an update from Dr. Struyk to our patients...

My time since "retirement" has been a very busy and exciting one! I retired June 20, and went back to work on July 1. We spent the summer in Anchorage, Alaska working at the Alaska Native Medical Center. That was an eye opening experience to work with the native population as well as to explore the beautiful state of Alaska. You can see what we were up to by visiting a web site I created to keep everyone informed of our adventure: http://web.me.com/cstruyk/Curt_and_Nancy_Struyks_Adventure/Welcome.html

After one month back home to see friends and family, we left to spend the next year in Gisborne, New Zealand which is on the east coast of the North Island. I work at the local hospital as a consultant in Ob/Gyn. The Maori population makes up 50-60% of the patients I see and they have the same medical and social issues as the natives in Alaska! This position gives me a lot of free time to explore this amazing country. I have a web site for our New Zealand trip that I will continue to update until we return to GR in October. Feel free to visit the site and enjoy New Zealand with us! http://web.me.com/cstruyk/Site/A_Year_in_New_Zealand.html

Sincerely,

Curt Struyk, M.D.
