Kristie's OB StoryPhysician: Dr. Robyn Hubbard
I was referred to Dr. Hubbard by my primary care physician in August 2007 when my husband and I discovered we were pregnant with our first child. At that point, I had no idea the enormous impact that Dr. Hubbard would have on my life and the life of my family. My first pregnancy was wonderful and I had no complications or concerns. I really enjoyed the entire pregnancy experience, especially my monthly appointments with Dr. Hubbard. She was very warm, friendly, kind and compassionate. She took her time with me during our appointments, answered all of my questions and shared in the excitement of our first pregnancy. This was all very comforting for a first time mom. When my husband would accompany me on appointments, Dr. Hubbard would always “check in” with him and ask if he had any questions or concerns. My husband was very impressed with this, as it made him feel like an important part of the pregnancy and childbirth experience. Our beautiful daughter, Katie, was born via cesarean section on April 9, 2008 by Dr. Blickley. We had a wonderful experience at the hospital and received excellent care from everyone involved. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have more children right away to add to our new family. We were thrilled to discover we were pregnant for a second time in August 2009. We were excited that the due date would be around Katie’s second birthday, as we wanted to have children close in age. Unfortunately, this pregnancy was not meant to be and I suffered a miscarriage at 9 weeks. The miscarriage was physically difficult and emotionally devastating. I feared that I was no longer able to carry a pregnancy to term and was concerned that my advanced maternal age (I had just turned 35) meant I should no longer try to have children. The miscarriage left me an emotional mess! Dr. Hubbard was incredibly supportive to me and my husband during this difficult time. She listened to my fears, wiped away my tears and reassured me that I could still have children. After talking with Dr. Hubbard I felt much better and was optimistic that my husband and I would be pregnant again very soon. However, after six months of trying to conceive, I was still not pregnant and growing more anxious, concerned and frustrated. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hubbard to seek her help and advice. I knew all along that Dr. Hubbard was a great doctor, but it was at this appointment that I knew I had an AWESOME doctor! Dr. Hubbard spent more than 30 minutes with me and my husband, reviewing my entire medical history, ovulation cycle and our efforts to conceive. During this time she gave great medical advice and statistics that were very reassuring. However, the best thing Dr. Hubbard did was give me “Girlfriend Advice” – practical and direct advice that only a real friend can tell you. I left that appointment feeling calm, relaxed, reassured and confident - and sure enough - I was pregnant the very next month! I was extremely anxious during this pregnancy and was in constant fear of another miscarriage. Dr. Hubbard was very understanding and ordered a six week and twelve week ultrasound to check on the baby’s development - and to help calm my fears! Everything was on track for a healthy baby to be born in February 2011! At 26 weeks, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. This news was very scary and shocking to me, as I had such a healthy and uneventful pregnancy with my daughter Katie. I had a long list of questions and concerns for Dr. Hubbard, and once again, she was able to calm my fears and put me at ease for the remainder of my pregnancy. Our handsome son, Jack, was born on February 4, 2011. Dr. Hubbard and her team were wonderful, kind, compassionate, understanding and supportive during this exciting and scary time. We had another excellent experience at the hospital and received top notch care from all staff members. I truly feel that Dr. Hubbard played a large part in our pregnancy with Jack. It was with her support, understanding and compassion that my husband and I were able to work through the miscarriage and try for another child. There are no words that completely describe the depth of our gratitude and appreciation for all that Dr. Hubbard has done for our family. She will always hold a special spot in my heart, as she is the person who gave me my most precious gifts…Katie and Jack.
With Deep Respect, Gratitude, Appreciation and Love, John, Kristie, Katie, & Jack |
